What is a pressure treated fence? Pressure-treated fences use a type of lumber that has undergone a process to drive preservatives deep into the wood fibers to achieve some level of protection against termite attacks, fungal decay, and other environmental factors. This is a great option if you are determined on having a wood fence cover your yard as it gives you several more years of protection compared to standard wood fences.

Since this process uses large quantities of water and preservatives, your wood will appear and feel wet for several weeks until it dries out naturally. This is completely normal and is nothing to be concerned about.

Why should you choose a pressure treated fence? Here are a few reasons why we recommend this style of fence:

  • Longer life: Pressure treated fences last much longer due to the preservatives inside of the wood which offer protection against termite attacks and fungal decay.
  • Ages gracefully: Non-pressure treated wood ages much faster and as a result, shows many signs of aging such as rotten areas, cracked or warped wood and insect damage. On the other hand, pressure treated fences do not show these signs of aging and in fact age with a unique character to them that cannot be replicated.
  • Easy maintenance: This type of wood is easily stainable or sealable and we recommend re-staining/sealing every 2-3 years.
